On SMP systems, we have to worry about consistency. The server-client protocol of the console relies on shared memory and a specific order of the writes in the console server.

Memory barriers are probably needed to ensure that the counter of a record is updated after the data in the record. Maybe after writing the counter, another memory barrier is needed, before notifying the clients.

Find out more about these issues and fix it.
