The GNU Hurd is the GNU project's replacement for the Unix kernel.
The Hurd is a collection of servers that run on the Mach microkernel to implement file systems, network protocols, file access control, and other features of Unix kernels like Linux.

The first steps for the Hurd to run on L4 have been done. A new CVS module "hurd-l4" has been created that holds the source code that is in somewhat releasable form. So far this is the libl4 user space library for the L4 kernel and laden, the bootloader.

mig-1.3 was released back in march, which supports the retcode keyword (by ignoring it) used in OSF Mach.
mig-1.3 is available from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/mig/

There's a new version of mig available, with a new option intended to help
generate configuration files that rpctrace may soon be enhanced to use.
