No response for over 4 weeks.
Closing report with "Works for me" (with io-2.6.1)

io-2.4.13 is "old", please try io-2.6.1.

Exactly what commands did you use to open the file? That's what I need to try to reproduce this issue, not just output from the Octave terminal.

Furthermore, Octave + io package should be able to read .xlsx files w/o external support files. UNO (LibreOffice) can be advantageous, sure, but for simple reading you can also try with the OCT interface.

FYI, gauged by the number of bug / help mailing list reports the UNO interface isn't used that often and it is a fragile interface at that. So in a way I'm quite glad to see someone using it :-)

Hello,

I met an error into opening xlsx file by using xlsopen function.
I was using io package with version 2.4.13 (that theoretically should correct this issue):

(P.S. The file to be opened in in the attachments).

-------------------------------------------------------------
Detected XLS interfaces: UNO*; (* = default interface)

PLEASE NOTE: UNO (=OpenOffice.org-behind-the-scenes) is EXPERIMENTAL
After you've opened a spreadsheet file using the UNO interface,
xlsclose on that file will kill ALL OpenOffice.org invocations,
also those that were started outside and/or before Octave!
Trying to quit Octave w/o invoking xlsclose will only hang Octave.

warning: UNO interface will write ODS format for unsupported file extensions

Oops, Octave hit an error.
error: 'octave_config_info' undefined near line 103 column 18
error: called from

xlsopen at line 311 column 35
