Code to reproduce issue:

x = [0, 9, 0];
y = [0, 0, 9];
c = uint8([0, 2, 4])';
patch (x, y, c, "facecolor", "interp");

This is a documented calling form, and Matlab accepts it.  Octave throws this error

error: __go_patch__: unable to create graphics handle
error: called from
    __patch__ at line 178 column 7
    patch at line 91 column 18

Issue seems to be that the input validation in _patch_.m is incorrect.
