The miscellaneous package relies on octave_config_info for the EXEEXT feature. This is a string that determines the full file name of an executable program on the operating system, either an empty string or ".exe" on Windows.

There should be a safe and reliable way to get this information to construct the full name of an executable program on the host operating system without relying on a private internal Octave function.

Depends on bug #55401 for Octave to invent a replacement.
