In Octave 3.8 and older, the warning ID was called "Octave:load-file-in-path". That warning ID was replaced in Octave 4.0, and its replacement was mentioned clearly in the NEWS for Octave 4.0:

** The new warning ID "Octave:data-file-in-path" replaces the three
    previous separate warning IDs "Octave:fopen-file-in-path",
    "Octave:load-file-in-path", and "Octave:md5sum-file-in-path".

The corresponding warning id seems to be "Octave:data-file-in-path". Does the warning still appear if you use that id?

How did you determine that "load-file-in-path" was the id of the warning you are seeing?

csvread/dlmread generates a warning:

warning: dlmread: 'filename' found by searching load path

even when warning is turned off:

warning("off","load-file-in-path")
