I've added a dependency on bug #52268. It appears that the same problem, a crazy "position" value, is causing that bug. Fixing the root cause should solve both of these.

I also just checked that I can make the window very small--perhaps 2 pixels tall--and the plot appears normal upon resizing. It is only when the actual size goes to zero that there is a problem.

Confirmed. I think there may already be a bug related to this outstanding. The problem is that the position property of the axes object has been corrupted.

Vertically resizing a figure window so it's as small as possible and then resizing to a normal size causes the figure to be distorted. A screenshot of a figure created with the sombrero command is attached.

This occurs with Changeset: 24654:ef60416c4686
