3.8.2 is about to be deprecated in favor of version 4.0.0 which will be released very soon.  You can try a release candidate (available at ftp://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/octave/) or wait until 4.0.0 is released officially.  The Ctrl+C processing has been completely reworked for 4.0.0.

noticed the gui would crash when i tried to abort a running script when it was paused. happens every time.  happens every time with even a script like this:
