I checked in the following changeset. It seems to fix the problem for me.

it'd be helpful to highlight the line triggering the error, possibly opening the file if it's not already open.

something could be borrowed from the way breakpoints are displayed, e.g., the yellow arrow which moves with F10, indicating the next line to be evaluated.

currently it's manifested only in the CUI, e.g.:
error: Assert error.
error: called from
myassert at line 44 column 5
test_inputParser at line 48 column 5
