I pushed the changeset to the development branch here (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/4ccd2b473f84). Closing report.

The patch looks fine. We usually credit people who contribute to Octave with a "First Name, Last Name" mention in the manual. We also like to check in the code with "First_Name Last_Name <email address>" so that if something does go wrong later, there is contact information in the log. Are you okay with all of that? If so, what name and e-mail contact would you like to use for the check in?

I've marked this as a regression now, since this used to work correctly in 3.4.3, but no longer does in 3.6.4 and beyond.

Confirmed. I lowered the severity to minor and put the priority to low, but this doesn't seem that hard to fix if someone has the time.

(extremely minor bug, but I figure it's worth mentioning and it's probably easy to fix)

If I hit ctrl-D to exit the interpreter, it doesn't print a newline before exiting. The next bash prompt follows the last octave prompt on the same line. I'm using the "terminal" on Ubuntu 12.04
