Lots of patches from you lately, thanks. I did some variable renaming to take advantage of the isinf() function that already exists. I applied the patch on the default branch (http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/89a8a90ac850).

Matlab accepts -Inf or Inf to be one bound of an axis command. This is an indication to use autoscaling on that particular bound.

For example,

Since the X data begins at 1, the actual axis after the command above should begin at an autoscaled point such as 0 or 1 and continue only until the hard limit of x=5.

This would be a nice feature to emulate.
