After discussion on the octave-maintainers list, it has been decided to keep gl2ps as an embedded component of Octave for one more release cycle. At that point we expect the distribution packagers such as Debian, RedHat, Fink, etc. will be producing gl2ps packages. Therefore, at the second release from now gl2ps will be removed from the code and become an external dependency for Octave.

Marking this bug as postponed.

Fedora (and others I assume) includes a package for gl2ps.

Should the configure script check to see if gl2ps is present, before using the files bundled with Octave?
