I'm a bit confused here.  PSPP should support importing text files with long lines.

How long are the lines in your file? And what error are you getting?

When importing a large CSV with 1000s of variables I get this.  I assume it is the column headings of multiple columns that is resulting in a long first line? not a bug.

If this is the case, what is the correct way to import a large data set from excel with such a large number of variables to avoid this error?  (presumably not CSV as this is going to 'string' everything together to this line that's too long).

(I could not see this issue covered in pspp-users archives?)

I am getting the same error.

What is 'a line' in the data file. I am importing a CSV from excel. is 'a line' a row in the spreadsheet or a cell that is too long?

How do I identify where this line is so I can rectify the problem.  the file I am trying to import is 2046 rows by 2610 columns (and apart from column headings is all numeric or missing values (unless something weird has crept in I cant immediately see))

I don't think this is really a bug.

I file with such enormously long lines can't reasonably be considered a text file.

Trying to import a survey csv file got the message:

error: Failed to read `C:\Users\xxxx\
xxxx.csv', because it contains a line over 16384 bytes long and
therefore appears not to be a text file.
