GRUB is not able to access my CD/DVD drive. From the debug messages, the AHCI driver appears to detect a second device, but attempts to access it time out and it's not reported in ls output. On the hard disk, the driver performs as expected.

Latest git snapshot fully detects the drive and reads media correctly, but there is still a noticeable delay when there is no medium present when accessing the drive. Can something be done about this?
