If grub supported NTFS that would be great. At work here we have a small partition that holds the kernel and a few network drivers. Currently, once the kernel loads and the network driver is loaded we have the machine get an ip address and then get the root filesystem from a server and put the filesystem in ramfs. If grub had ntfs support then we could eliminate the need for that partition and just store the drivers and kernel on the ntfs partition (the machines are all dual boot).
