I no longer think this can be fixed in a backward-compatible way, but we could offer `Lin`, `Pin`, and `Sin` registers that are used preferentially to the DWB mm ones.

These names would be consistent in spelling and semantics (that is, accommodating of scaling units) with the existing groff extension register `Verbin`.

These registers' values are effectively forced to be in ens because they are unscaled when assigned (if you try to use a scaling unit, even "n", you will be surprised).

I think we can fix this inflexibility in a backward-compatible way by using the default scaling operator ";" when interpolating them.

See the implementation of `Verbin`.
