Corresponding source code
The default/grub configuration file includes the following lines:
# Set to 'countdown' or 'hidden' to change timeout behavior,
# press ESC key to display menu.
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
If a user changes the value, and then decides to change it back later on, the name of the original option is lost.
The first line should therefore include the default option, such as:
# Set to 'menu', 'countdown', or 'hidden' to change timeout behavior,
# press ESC key to display menu.
GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=menu
