Probably the bug could be extended to all modifier characters - consider the behavior of U+02D9 and U+02BC here:

jastřȧ̃bjï
jastřä̀˙bjï
i̯astřəb́ï
i̯astřąbʼï

Considering IPA and kerning: do you think that phonetic transcription does not deserve good kerning? Do you think I need to switch off character kerning for my transcriptions (consisting not only of IPA letters but also some ASCII) to make them look consistently ugly? Do I have to bring forth an example of usage of a character in a [current] orthography of a [living] language to add kerning to that character?

Thnak you, U+1D58 now looks much better! However, U+2071 superscript i not so much: cf. Avestan vāⁱti, fravāyeⁱti

Oh.  We have a double misunderstanding.

Yes the superscript w is kerned -- for use in an orthography of some North American languages.

But that isn't why the superscript u looked bad: it was simply displaced.  For IPA kerning isn't appropriate.

I fixed the entire range of superscript latin letters in this face.  In SVN.

Well, I mean it lacks kerning while e.g. superscript w has it. Both are used in different phonetic transcription systems. E.g. see https://www.unicode.org/L2/L2002/02141-n2419-uralic-phonetic.pdf (the document that introduced the character to Unicode)

It isn't kerning -- the horizontal positioning is off.  Same for all the supescript latin letters.

Both on the left side (too far) and on the right side (touching the next character. E.g., try bᵘ̯ožḯ (also exposing another problem with missing anchors).
