Uhm lack of clarity in some bug reports :-)

1) grub-shell "setup" command:
This contains the sentence 'If IMAGE_DEVICE is specified, then find the GRUB images in the device IMAGE_DEVICE, otherwise use the current "root device"'.

I'm now guessing this is an instruction to modify the stage1 binary with information about where stage2 is to be found. But I also kind of thought it referred to where stage2 should be installed. Perhaps it is simply where to find the existing images (or perhaps grub-install/ setup already knows this).

???

Whichever the case, it should be clarified. Because in this case, a clear understanding I think could make the difference between a bootable system and one that's not. It could also have ramifications for system recovery, if say grub is installed into the boot sector of multiple partitions, to help in the case when one partition becomes corrupted. Of course, if grub's each partition all try to load stage2 from exactly the same partition (and this is corrupted) then those multiple partition installs of grub won't be much help...

There should be enough information to make it easy to determine what's going on, so that I can make intelligent decisions about how to install grub, not just get an installation that just happens to work. I'm sure this is the intention, and hopefully the above will help clarify something for the next guy.

Thanks heaps
Zen
