OK ... closing this as it's not a GNUstep base bug (and it's not clear that there's anything to usefully be done about memory corruption from elsewhere).

There was a bug corrupting the Autorelease pool in GSWSession. (fixed in SVN)
On OSX the NSAutoreleasePool prints a message like:

* attempt to pop an unknown autorelease pool (0x80a200)

which is done with CFLog. just put a breakpoint there and you can backtrace to get to the real problem.
The implementation in -base forces the program to die.

The best would be probably to raise.

Yes please ... it looks like a retain/release issue ... very difficult to track down without a test/example, especially since the problem could lie anywhere in the program.
