This is a very sad news, and we as Free Software support should continue moving on with what we believe.

On September 16, 2019, Richard M. Stallman, founder and president of the Free Software Foundation, resigned as president and from its board of directors.

The board will be conducting a search for a new president, beginning immediately. Further details of the search will be published on fsf.org.

For questions, contact FSF executive director John Sullivan at johns@fsf.org.

Email from RMS:

I resigned due to the threats and hostility that the FSF was receiving
from others.  The attack campaign was based on distortions and
falsehoods, with a bunch of random other minor complaints added, but
it was real and it was doing great damage.  I too concluded the FSF
needed me to resign.

I was going to post my own resignation statement on Monday
but forgot.  So I sent that now.

I hope supporters of our cause will speak up and firmly call on the
FSF not to alter its policies.
