Is it possible to provide the code for testing or better a minimal "working" example?

Thanks for the responses, I appreciate it!

I did change the name of the script file, but it doesn't contain a built-in function name (to my knowledge).  I'll try changing it to something completely innocuous and see if that helps.

Additionally, I tried it and the issue with typing in the command window DOES only happen after I've run the script.

Again, thanks for the help.  I have little to no experience with programs like this/just starting to learn how to troubleshoot issues.

Is the issue with the command window only showing up after you have run your script or even after a fresh start of Octave?

Did you make a new script file at the time that it stopped working? Maybe the name you used  was a builtin function name.
Just guessing and trying to narrow it down for you.

hi there,

i've been running a single code in octave for months and it suddenly stopped working.  I'm doing diffusion chronometry research and the models my script typically generates stopped appearing, as well as the applications variable outputs.  In the command window, not only is there no error displayed, but I am unable to type (or at least see that I have typed anything).  I'm hoping there's a solution for this because Octave has been a wonderful, free alternative to MATLAB for me as an undergraduate.  Thanks in advance for the help.

I was previously using an older version, but had the same issue and updated.  It didn't help :(
