octave is a numerical programming language. it generally does not use units, although some people have written packages and add ons that may have done so, and others have used the symbolic package to sort of track units as variables. However, octave itself generally has no sense of units and would have no way to differentiate between different types of energy. It seems we are going to need far more information than you have provided about your problem and what exactly you are using and trying to accomplish to possibly be able to help you. Also, this is a bug reporting tool. if a general octave use discussion would be more appropriate, that may be better suited to the discussion forum at https://octave.discourse.group/
Octave is adding potential energy and pressure energy and mixing units but only when units are wrong otherwise units are right and Octave is right except units are wrong.
