Did deleting the config file fix the problem?  If yes, can this report be closed?  If no, then I think we need more info.

Please have a look into your user directory in windows and delete the file .config\octave\qt.settings if it exists.

After installing and running the GUI for the first two or three times I personalized the GUI and set the default directory to open as a folder inside another folder in my desktop. After closing the GUI, every time I wanted to open it again, it crashes before I can do anything.
Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1, 32 bits. Only error message "OCTAVE has stopped working"
I tried uninstalling three times, manually deleting every trace I could find from the installation but the problem remains and I can't rollback to the default settings. After reinstall I can still see the home path I selected
