Thank you for the bug report.  This is an unusual place to request wiki updates, maybe https://octave.discourse.group/ is more suitable.

If "fixed" those issues as follows:

https://wiki.octave.org/Octave_load (marked as outdated)
https://wiki.octave.org/Fortran (updated example)

For the first link, there are better examples in the manual.  The approach tried there has to have an interpreter instance for the type resolution, thus only with plain ASCII data one can make something similar with Octave 5.2.0+, as for the Fortran case.

Marking as fixed, closing report.

The following two pages:

https://wiki.octave.org/Octave_load
https://wiki.octave.org/Fortran

seem to refer to a very old version of octave, making reference to things that seem to have been deprecated since, thus making these examples useless.

In particular, they make use of a do_load function, which, I could not find anywhere in the octave api, and therefore I assume is deprecated. There's other things too, e.g. the use of toplev.h, which the compiler informs me is deprecated in favour of interpreter.h.

I would edit these examples myself, but unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with the api for this to be a simple edit for me.

PS. I bumped into these pages from stackoverflow links in the context of questions on fortran/octave interoperability, e.g. https://stackoverflow.com/q/61631474/4183191
