I read through some of the open and closed issues on the OARS project this weekend, and it reinforced my opinion that this is meant more for automatic features that a program does as part of its normal behavior or can be easily enabled to do. I think if the application being rated is, for example, Turing-complete then this question should be interpreted as "out-of-the-box". And yet, some of the categories that the tool asks about are worded a bit vaguely in terms of a generic interpreter / processing environment. For example, does Octave permit messages to be sent over the network? I would say it does, but that probably doesn't match the intent of the ratings tool.	Mike Miller <mtmiller>

The change was made in March 2019 and is not in version 0.7.15, the latest version, I guess it will be part of version 0.7.16. Adding the empty content rating tag means that someone has taken the effort to go through the content rating categories and verify that Octave doesn't offer any of the things that can be tagged. So someone should still go through the tool and do that. Is there any concern about OARS version 1.0 vs 1.1? The AppStream spec only mentions 1.0, so I think we should stick to that. According to the upstream spec, the tag is completely optional. https://www.freedesktop.org/software/appstream/docs/chap-Metadata.html#tag-content_rating > The <content_rating/> tag is an optional tag which can be added to specify age ratings for the respective software components. I guess that some tool is adding a requirement to make this mandatory, but it's not clear to me what that tool is or what version introduces this change.
