Fixed in this cset: https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/57952dd2da42.

There may be other graphics properties that also need to accept an empty value.  File more bug reports if you find them.  "alphamap" might be a possibility.

Setting a figure's colormap with an empty array returns an error:

octave:1>  h = figure ("colormap", [])
error: invalid value for array property "colormap"
error: called from
    figure at line 96 column 7

This is for example used in dialog.m:
and is valid in matlab:
(look for description of output argument d at the end of the page).
