This is a duplicate of bug #51307. The bug is specifically that the two-argument form of max and min on complex arguments with equal magnitudes depends on the order of the arguments. In fact there is already a test in the test suite for this known bug.

This issue has been discussed many times.  Did you read any of those discussions?  It seems bad to me if the comparison operators <, <=, >, >= behave differently from min and max.

In MATLAB,

>> max(5,5i)

ans =

   0.0000 + 5.0000i

>> min(5,5i)

ans =

     5

In GNU Octave,

>> max(5,5i)
ans =  5
>> min(5,5i)
ans =  5

So,in Octave how is possible! It producing same result.
There were some debate about comparison of complex values.
I think to keep MATLAB compatibility it should follow MATLAB
rule.
