GNUstep is not really designed for tiling window managers, but this would be a nice to have. I've moved it to a change request.

What you see is the normal GNUstep mechanism to determine the window decoration offset as provided by the window manager. This needs to be computed once per session and gets done for all 15 possible window styles.

If this mechanism fails for your window manager it may just be that it does not provide any window decoration. Or if it does it does it in a way unknown to GNUstep.

I use the "ratpoison" tiling window manager.
When i launch my app from the terminal, the screen flickers a few times (presumably 15 times) and i get error messages like:

2011-11-06 18:11:31.206 myapp[16054] Failed to determine offsets for style 1

For "styles" 1 through 15. (No idea what they are.)
After this, the app actually launches normally.

The issue disappears for the rest of the X session when i start a non-tiling WM (even if i switch back to ratpoison).
(Used TWM as the non-tiling WM, if it matters.)
