No compatibility issue but I found this warning was puzzling:

octave> addpath /local/
octave> rmpath /local
warning: rmpath: /local: not found

Why?  What trouble does it cause to leave them in?  Is this a compatibility issue?

addpath/rmpath should remove any trailing filesep of input directory names.
For example,

addpath /local/dir1
addpath /local/dir1/

results in path:


instead of only /local/dir1.
