I want to use wget instead of a browser to download actual virus signatures every 4 hours. To avoid unneeded downloads I use the -N option.
As seen in the log file the local size of the signature file is 18626600 bytes.
Message: The sizes do not match (local 18626600) -- retrieving.
Some lines later in the log file I get the following message:
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for symrapidreleasedefsi32.exe (18626600 bytes).
Length: 18.626.600 (18M) (unauthoritative)
This exact the size of the local file. Since the timestamp is the same as on the ftp server there is no need to do the download.
What I do not understand with another file (current.sqn)in the same directory the option works properly.
Following is the output of the command file. The log is attached to this report as an extra file.
K:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Administrator\Desktop>m:
M:\>cd install
M:\Install>set wget_url="ftp://ftp.symantec.com/AVDEFS/norton_antivirus_corp/rapidrelease/symrapidreleasedefsi32.exe"
M:\Install>K:\Utilities\wget\wget -o wget.log -S -N -d --user=anonymous --password=************* -N "ftp://ftp.symantec.com/AVDEFS/norton_antivirus_corp/rapidrelease/symrapidreleasedefsi32.exe"
Setting --user (user) to anonymous
Setting --password (password) to -unavailable-
Setting --timestamping (timestamping) to 1
M:\Install>echo 0
0
M:\Install>pause
Drücken Sie eine beliebige Taste . . .
