As of Commit a78974a040, in order to have a consistent metadata convention, all the metadata (except the WCS) should be written in the 0-th HDU of the FITS files.

As of Commit b19eedd, this has been checked and validated for (alphabetically):

  • Arithmetic
  • BuildProgram (doesn't produce a FITS output)
  • ConvertType
  • Convolve
  • CosmicCal (doesn't produce a FITS output)
  • Crop

We need to complete this for all Gnuastro programs.

Note that in the original Commit a78974a040, the NoiseChisel and Segment date and versions metadata was brought into the 0-th HDU, but not keywords like 'MED_STD' that get written in some of the output HDUs. That is why they are not included in the list above.
