Hi,

I have approved your project.  You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

Regards.

Note:

- we recommend writing each year of publication in the copyright notice, see http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html

- -email is unavailable- (from COPYRIGHT) won't work :)

I've done some changes to the original source tree on svn.debian.org.

Please have a look at

  svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-sysvinit/sysvinit-upstream/trunk

as you can see the only source file which is not changed is
trunk/contrib/start-stop-daemon.c as this one is public
domain by the original author Marek Michalkiewicz.

Hi,

we will do so but this takes some time as I'm very busy
here with open bugs which have first priority.

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within two weeks I still do not get a reply, I will remove
your project.  You will still be able to register it again once
you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not,
please tell us--we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

Hi,

Thanks for clarifying.

The review procedure means that when we request a new tarball, you need to provide a new source archive with the changes we requested, in particular fix the top copyright/license notices and include a copy of the GNU GPL (see my previous post).

We'll then review the source again and approve the project.

The sysvinit project written by
Miquel van Smoorenburg <miquels@drinkel.ow.nl>
includes already a file called COPYRIGHT which in fact refers
to the GPL version 2.

Now this project seems not to be maintained by Miquel anymore
therefore we, that are maintainers from Debian and from the
openSuSE project, want to continue and develop the project
on a neutral and uncommitted site like savannah.  With this
we are able to put our efforts together for an uptodate
sysvinit project to the advantage of of all distributions
out there.

IMHO there is no problem to include a physical copy of the
current GPL.

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

In order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the GNU GPL, please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every copyrightable file, usually any file more than 10 lines long.

In addition, please include a copy of the plain text version of the GPL, available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, into a file named "COPYING".

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

The GPL FAQ explains why these procedures must be followed.  To learn why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the code, for example, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude.

Also, can you clarify how you plan to use Savannah, given that
there's an Alioth project already?

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface by following the link below. Do not reply directly; the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards.
