Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

Hi,

Sorry I didn't see that you added attachements. It is better to directly ask your questions using the "Post a Comment" field, instead of attaching HTML pages ;)

If you want to include the software and the data in a distribution such as gNewSense, data need to be free according to the Free Software Definition (http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html) (in the case of gNewSense, this will depend on a similar document which is the Debian Free Software Guidelines or DSFG).

I cannot check each of the data source and determine the licence they use. You need to contact the copyright holders of each data source, and ask them under what terms you can use them. I then can provide limited advice about whether this is compatible with the FSD.

For example, the Insulin index says page "This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License.". This means that modified versions are not allowed, so this is not free (not compatible with the Free Software Definition).

Note that using a free license is different than being "in public domain". When a work is in the public domain, there is not copyright attached to it. When the work is under a free license, it remains copyrighted by its authors, and the license must give you the 4 degrees of freedom from the FSD (if not, that's not a free license).

I let you check the license of the data sources. Feel free to ask further questions here.

Hi,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

Please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code. Alternatively, you can forward the code to me by email or attach it to this tracker.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GNU GPL you must include a copyright notice and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every  copyrightable file, usually any file more than 10 lines long.  This is explained in http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.  Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

Note that sending code to our repositories is a release, since the code will then be publicly available through anonymous access.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards.

It uses USDAs National Nutrition Database and NNRs data. It is advised to use this software along with Sovix template engine to find high nutrient values as quick as possible in the large database when building own diets. Templates for ovo-pomumists (egg-fruitarians) with balanced RDA/DRI, AI, NNR, AMDR, UL. GI, GL, II and CR is however implemented. The goal with the project is to get dietists, raw foodists, animal rights acivists, global justice activists and enviromental activists to get use of the software.
