Hi,

You have two COPYING files, one in your project root, and one in your src folder.
Root's one is GPL3, and src's one is GPL2 (with old fsf's address indeed). Can you fix it ? (Maybe you can simply delete COPYING in src folder)

You have to update your file's headers with correct licence notice you choosed.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.
To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.
Regards,

Jean-Michel

Hi, I ask for a savannah account because linex.org is continuously down, therefore savannah would be the primary site.

This is the new tarball:

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah. While doing so I have noticed a few problems which are described below.

Savannah is a central point for development, distribution and maintenance of GNU Software.

There is a companion site savannah.nongnu.org where we also host Free Software projects that are not part of the GNU Project, but run on free platforms.

However, we do not allow to host your project on Savannah and Linex.org at the same time, if Savannah is just a project mirror. Your project development should happen primarily on Savannah.

How do you plan to use your Savannah account?

The address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

Updated versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766

(alternatively the GNU (L)GPLv3 standard notices include different wording that do not mention the FSF snail mail address - see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html#howto)

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project.  Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

Jean-Michel

Registration Details

  • Name: gNetic
  • System Name:  gnetic
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

Gnetic  is  a tool for create and restore backups. Also lets you clone computers over the network.  You  can  make  computer  copies  using a direct  connection  between  two machines (Point-2-Point), or using the "link mode", that create a chain of nodes that sends information like a bus-topology  net.  With this method, theoretically you can clone up to 64 computers (or as many you specify) at same time that 1 or 2.

You also can with gnetic to make copies "on the fly",  sendig  information directly  to  the  net  without create a system image before. Of course alwais there are the traditional option of crete a system image and send it over the net when you want.

gnetic supports these filesystems:
ext2, ext3, jfs, xfs, reiserfs, linux-swap, hfs, fat16, fat32, ntfs

You can download from: http://sgd.howto-linux.de/download/.gnetic/

The webpage is http://gnetic.forjamari.linex.org but it doesn't work at the moment, the web is only in spanish just as the using_gnetic document. I don't speak english and I have many difficulties to translate to english.

The versions 0.2.1 to 0.3.2 of gnetic have headers that contains Microsoft Windows boot code, I get it from the ms-sys project http://ms-sys.sourceforge.net/ ; The creator of ms-sys is not 100% secure that these headers are legal. Gnetic version 0.3.3 no longer contains these headers and windows is cloned and boot correctly after clone, including the windows with ntfs file system.

Other Software Required:

gettext
libparted
for all versions

e2fsprogs
libuuid1
only for 0.3.3

suggested packages:
jfsutils, xfsprogs, reiserfsprogs, hfsutils, dosfstools, ntfsprogs, ntfs-3g
