Hello David,

Thank you for the update.

The project has been approved, and you should receive an email with further
instructions.

A small recommendation:
It is advisable to use the canonical form for copyright statement, which in this case would be:
  Copyright (C) 2015 D. Rabel

Followed by the standard boiler-plate license notice text instead of writing 'see LICENSE.txt...'

for example, see the file 'src/external/json-parser/json.c' in your archive.

This will help potential users of the software and other people wishing to use your code in other projects (as the file 'LICENSE.txt' might not exist or contain a different license).

Regards,
 - Assaf

Hi Assaf,

thanks for you patience. I added an archive to this task containing the current source folder.

Regards,
  David

Hello David,

Savannah is a source-code hosting platform.
Hosting a project in a git repository without making any official releases ('tarballs') is fine.

However unlike other source-code hosting platforms, Savannah has strict requirements regarding hosting only free-software ( http://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php ).
As such, new submitted projects must be checked to ensure compatibility with free-software - this is why we ask you to provide the source code of your project.

If you can share the source code of the project in its current state, simply upload an archive containing the file in the repository. Once the project is approved, you can commit these files to the git repository on savannah.
Otherwise, we can keep this ticket open until you are ready to share the source code.

Regards,
 - Assaf

Hi Assaf,

I am still not quite sure if I understand what Savannah is. :-)

I was primarily looking for a plattform based on totally free software to host a git repository for my project. That means by now there is no "release" of it yet.

The software is a very special small tool for my client, so probably we are not going to make a "real" software package out of it, that you can install easily.

But we agreed to release it under a free license and provide the source code to the public as soon as it might be useful for anyone else.

So, am I right here at Savannah? And what would I provide as a source-code archive? The current version of the source folder? Or wait until I have a working version?

Regards,
  David

PS: Thank you for the hint to GNU RemoteControl. I will have a look at it.

Hello David,

Thank you for submitting a new project to host on GNU Savannah.

GNU Savannah is primarily a code-hosting service.
You have not provided any source code archive, and it isn't clear what do you
intend to host on savannah.
Can you provide a source-code archive?

The uploaded archive needs to comply with the hosting
requirements:
http://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php
http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/HowToGetYourProjectApprovedQuickly/

As a side note,
You might be interested in looking into GNU RemoteControl ( http://www.gnu.org/software/remotecontrol/ ) which also deals with controlling thermostats.

 - Assaf
