Hello Thi -- thanks for submitting the long-overdue project for RCS.  I approved it.  Please let us know if any problems.

Regarding your comments on the submission form, I'll see if I can make the text box bigger.  The media files question, well, I guess it's true even in the case of 0 such files :).  Meanwhile, it's another place where people might stop and read, which is only a help, it turns out.

Thanks,
Karl

Registration Administration

While this item will be useful to track the registration process, approving or discarding the registration must be done using the specific Group Administration page, accessible only to site administrators, effectively logged as site administrators (superuser):

Registration Details

  • Name: GNU RCS
  • System Name:  rcs
  • Type: Official GNU software
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later (RCS 5.7 is under GPLv2+.

For 5.8 the plan is to move it to GPLv3+.
)

Description:

RCS is the Revision Control System.  It is already official GNU software (http://www.gnu.org/software/rcs/).

It is a precursor to CVS (and all the rest) still in active use all over the place, primarily intended for keeping track of a single file.  It was one of the first version control systems to be supported by GNU Emacs.

It is written in the C programming language.

Other Software Required:

RCS uses only libc.

Other Comments:

The URL for the tarball is the GNU one since this is already official GNU software.  I am hacking on a local git repo (that includes the contents of that tarball, as well as previous releases) that will be ready to push once hosting is in place.

(BTW, the text field for the URL is very narrow.)

(BTW^2, RCS has no media files; the box is checked to get around the filter.  Maybe you could have a radio button instead for projects that have no media files?)

Tarball URL:

ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/rcs/rcs-5.7.tar.gz
