Thanks for the report. This was fixed several years ago.

Bash-4.2 is three versions old, and no longer supported. This is fixed in the current version, bash-5.0.

When bash 4.2.53 is configured with "--disable-readline", linking fails with unrecognised symbol "enable_hostname_completion" referenced by "shopt_enable_hostname_completion".

When "shopt_enable_hostname_completion" is enclosed in "#if defined (READLINE)", linking succeeds.
