Maybe I wasn't clear, but what I asked with a read-only texi2html was a read-only texi2html that was updated when the texi2html direcory in texinfo was updated... It looks like the texi2html repository has stopped being updated instead.

Could that be possible?

This is IMHO one of those case where following instructions, rather than deducing them from CVS knowledge, is likely to go wrong.

I already did.

The 500MB is mostly because of Patrice's very extensive tests.

The change in "history" is fine.  We don't want to revert.  We're excited about moving forward :).

How do we make the texi2html project's own cvs read-only now?

Thanks, Sylvain.

That and:
chown -R root:texinfo texi2html/
chmod -R a-w texinfo
(+ using "cp -a" instead of "cp -pr" just in case)

Good lord.. 500MB? :)

The only thing you need to think about is that it altered the history - people who checkout and old version will also checkout a copy of texi2html, which wasn't there before.

We can revert the change if that's a problem.

Great, thanks Patrice!

Sylvain (or anyone), if you could do this, it would be greatly appreciated.  Somehow I doubt it is as simple as
cp -pr /sources/texi2html/texi2html/ /sources/texinfo/texinfo/
and I have even less clue about the read-only-ness part.

For the record, we've been through all the copyright assignments, etc.

Thanks,
Karl

texi2html is to be merged to texinfo, the plan is to have the cvs texi2html repo copied to the texinfo repo, as a subdirectory in the texinfo project. Here is a mail that have a bit more information (but it has certainly too much and deprecated information):
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/texi2html/2009-11/msg00004.html

So, could you please

  • copy the texi2html repo in texinfo
  • turn the texi2html repo into a read-only copy of the directory texi2html in texinfo
