I'm using cpio 2.8 under Ubuntu 7.10

I'm trying to extract a previously-created cpio archive but after this command extract some files (about 74000) it escape with this error: "premature end of file".
I'm working in a EXT3 partition without large files limits therefore I think this is not the problem.
The only thing I'have remarked is that CPIO fail trying to extract a large TAR archive named "file.tar" and this is the only uncompressed TAR archive in my CPIO archive.

Since -c and -k options are disabled in GNU CPIO, I would like to know how could I skip this "unrecoverable" file in way to extract remaining files.

Thanks in advance
