GNU cpio - Summary
This software is part of the GNU Project.
GNU cpio copies files into or out of a cpio or tar archive. The archive can be another file on disk, a magnetic tape, a pipe, etc.
GNU cpio supports a variety of archive formats: binary, old ASCII,
new ASCII, crc, HPUX binary, HPUX old ASCII, old tar, POSIX.1 tar.
The package is moving toward merging with GNU tar into a POSIX-compatible pax program.

GNU cpio version 2.15 is available for download. This is a bug-fixing release. Short summary of changes:
- Fix the operation of --no-absolute-filenames --make-directories.
- Restore access and modification times of symlinks in copy-in and copy-pass modes.

GNU cpio version 2.14 is available for download.
New in this version:
New option --ignore-dirnlink
Valid in copy-out mode, it instructs cpio to ignore the actual number of links reported for each directory member and always store 2 instead.
