Fri 18 Mar 2016 08:34:34 AM UTC, comment #7: I have finally found a way to circumvent the problem: If you invoke the bios 'boot menu' (F12) when starting the vostro 3350 and simply select 'hard disk' there, the second disk gets (auto-magically) known to grub. Hence the problem simply disappears if you go through to boot menu!

Well, I don't know if this is really feasible. But anyway: I use a laptop computer (a dell vostro 3350). When I bought it, it was equipped with a (spinning) HDD and a DVD writer.
