Documentation is now improved somewhat ... so I suppose this should be closed.

I've clarified/extended the documentation a bit in CVS, to point out that 'gdomap -L GDNCServer' only works for gdnc servers started for public use.

Well, the built documentation from gnustep-base-1.11.0 states, correctly, that gdomap map should be started by system, and gdnc by user (which wasn't the way it was before), but then it offers the example of `gdomap -L GDNCServer`, which as you've stated, is incorrect.

So, yes, it's a "documentation bug" I suppose.

I think this is a query rather than a bug report ...

Distributed notifications and the gdnc server now use message ports by default.

That means gdnc needs to be started as the user, not as system.

It also means that it should not show up in gdomap as it's no longer using socket ports (gdomap gives the names of socket ports).

Other things which have not moved over to explicitly selecting message/socket based connections will generate a warning message until the next base release at which the default behavior for all connections will change.

To suppress the warning message you need to do set the NSPortIsMessagePort as suggested in the warning message.

eg.

 defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSPortIsMessagePort YES

Seeing that GNUstep-HOWTO docs suggest running gdomap as system, and gdnc and gpbs per user, as opposed to running gdomap and gdnc as system in the old way.

After started gdnc as a user, gdomap doesn't show GDNCServer:
# gdomap -L GDNCServer
Unable to find GDNCServer.

Application start-ups state that we should start using NSPortIsMessagePort ... but this isn't the default atm, and it seems the old way is now not working.

Suggestions for what the working default should be for packagers would be greatly appreciated.
