Add a New Comment Rich Markup
The problem is that that the default is not to group whole measure rests if they have something attached to them - things like fermata stop the grouper because it's expected the performer will want to know. Staccato dots are rather small so easy to miss in the display - LilyPond does actually typeset them though so they can't really be banned... I wonder if the display should exaggerate their size though as part of making the display more informative...
I mistakenly had a staccato mark on a whole measure rest which I didn't notice and when I tried to create multi-measure rests it wouldn't do it, took me ages to twig what was going on. Any way of preventing staccatos on rests?
