My operating system is Linux, so maybe this only happens on a Linux system?

Try these steps:

  1. Open TeXmacs.
  2. Type “fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff”.
  3. Change document style to “beamer”.
  4. Change document style to “generic”.

I could not reproduce this bug.
Can you please provide a precise recipe for reproducing it?
What do you type as a "longer text"?

I tested on 1.99.11 with longer texts, the editor still crashes.

I confirmed this bug on GNU TeXmacs 1.99.10.

But on GNU TeXmacs 1.99.11, it works fine.

I tested again, typing “ab” does not make the editor crash anymore, but typing “abc” does. Maybe it have something to do with the number of characters I typed.

OS: Arch Linux
TeXmacs Version: 1.99.10

1. Open TeXmacs.
2. Type “ab”.
3. Change document style to “beamer”.
4. Change document style to “generic”.

Then the editor crashes.
