Wed 24 Jun 2015 03:59:20 PM UTC, original submission:   When the file with msgids to be excluded using the -x option contains problematic msgids, xgettext fails. This is a problem when the -a option is used, as -a causes things like msgid "" or msgid "blabla\004blabla" in the output, which I try to remove using the -x, as in xgettext -a some.c -x some.xcl In my opinion either -x should accept strings that do not follow all the rules, or -a shouldn't output such msgids.
