I am not sure whether we should accept file names which are really to weird. Such file names are likely not to be portable across systems and thereby raise other problems such as linking between documents. I have not made up my mind yet, but another solution would be to raise an error message whenever the user manipulates file names with dangerous names.

The bug is in ./src/System/Classes/url.cpp, line 96:
if (occurs ("*", s)) return url_wildcard (s);

Imho we should use some escaping mecanism.

It's reproducible under GNU/Linux. Thanks for the report.

Every time I try to open a .tm file within a directory that has an asterisk in its name, TeXmacs quits unexpectedly.

The TeXmacs version I am using is under Mac OS X version 10.6.8.
