Hi there,

I've noticed a problem when defining status lines (caption + hardstatus) using background colors for effect. I can reproduce them on multiple machines running the same screen release.

Here is an example screenrc file which demonstrates the issue:

# Set the colors for status lines to blue background with default
# colored text:
sorendition = bd

# Install two status lines, both with arbitrary centered messages:
caption always "%=hi%="
hardstatus alwayslastline "%=hi again%="

What this results in, is that the caption line (the topmost status line) will display as expected: It will contain the word "hi", centered, on a blue background. But the bottom status line (hardstatus), will NOT display the blue background! Even if it is specifically prefix with color codes that specify them, it won't work.

I've attached a screenshot of what this looks like using konsole.

Thanks for your time.
