Could you confirm if this happens only with 3D boards. If this is the case it is most probably the same issue as bug #62482.

A workaroud would be to set the environment variable LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE to 1 before starting gnubg (for instance launch it from a terminal with "LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1 gnubg").

After upgrading my operating system from Ubuntu 22.04 to Ubuntu 24.04, GNU Backgammon (gnubg) no longer functions as expected. The application experiences graphical glitches.I can no longer move the checker and select the desired position on the board. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
