this appears to have been erroneously posted under the GNU GRUB instead of GNU Octave project. I don't know if it can be moved, although it appears it can be closed.

Alright I found the problem :
Seems that AVG is preventing Octave from working. I uninstalled the AV and it works well now

Hi,

I've been using octave for a few years now and never had any problem with it. However, since last week, I can't open it.
When I try to run it, the gui opens as a white window for a few seconds then closes. The CLI works well.

From what I saw, it is a bug similar to bug #56795 and bug #62352, but none of the solutions that were submitted work for me.

The octave version I have right now is 7.1.0.
My operating system is Windows 11 x64 version 22H2.

My antivirus is AVG, I put the folder where octave is located in the exceptions, and no needed files are in quarantine.
I uninstalled any unwanted AV such as avast, nothing changed.

I also went in windows defender to see if anything was preventing octave from working, but I actually found this :

" Source
octave-gui.exe

As some more info, my boyfriend also uses octave, and the same thing happened to him today.
Right now, he has octave 6.3.0 and Windows 10 x64 version 21H2.

Note that we both use AVG, so I really think there's something going on with this AV, I just can't find what
